This summer, we continue celebrating SUCCESS STORIES from our community members. We hope to inspire others by showing that even during a challenging economy and one of the toughest job markets in over ten years, including a pandemic, you CAN find great work that suits you! Having help and guidance from a supportive and professional community, like tellent, helps to create jobseeker success like this. 

One of this summer’s success stories comes from Tracey Kapshey.

What was your employment situation prior to securing your new position or contract? 

I was working full-time in an office.

What kind of work were you looking for? 

Something more flexible that would allow me the mental space during a pandemic and flexibility to keep my family “safer” during the pandemic, i.e. flexible hours to do pick ups to avoid after-school daycare, keeping our circle smaller. Company culture was important to me as well, wanting company values to align with my own.

What are you doing now? What kind of position did you get and what are you most excited about?

Remote first, flexible hours, full-time

How do you feel about your new role?

I love it! I get to work with incredible, like-minded people and really cool clients.

What was the most challenging thing about your job search?

The most challenging was knowing about a company’s culture, especially as many organizations have found it difficult to keep up culture during the pandemic.

How did you overcome those challenges? How did tellent help?

Tellent introduced me to the company through networking!

What one piece of advice or resource would you offer to women looking for work that works for them right now?

You need to trust that you don’t have to check all the boxes to apply for a position; you need a willingness to learn, and an open mind to technology, especially in the middle of a pandemic!

How did the Talent Ecosystem support you on your journey to building or growing your business? 

Going into tellent’s Propeller Experience [course], I knew I needed something more for myself. I needed something that would allow me to really dig into what I wanted from my whole self – not just in my career. That’s exactly what I got. By networking through the tellent ecosystem, I got insight into company culture and what others had looked for in their current companies as well.
